Uroflowmetry

Uroflowmetry is a procedure used to calculate the amount and flow rate of urine in seconds during the void. The information helps evaluate function of the lower urinary tract and determine if there is enlargement of prostate gland or improper function of the bladder.

Before the procedure:

Patient should drink about four glasses of water (1-1.5L) two hours before the test to ensure that the bladder is full.

The procedure:

  1. You should wait in the waiting area till the bladder is full, then request the nurse to start the test
  2. You will be taken to the procedure area to urinate in to a special container that is connected to a measuring instrument attached to a computer
  3. After the procedure, you should wait again in the waiting area until you are called to see the doctor
